To get up to speed on the latest "hot topics" in the aggregates, asphalt, pavement maintenance and traffic safety sectors, industry professionals can register for the education programs at the World of Asphalt Show & Conference and the co-located AGG1 Aggregates Forum & Expo. The 2010 shows have announced their education programs, which include 100-plus sessions developed by industry experts to meet industry needs.
The AGG1 Aggregates Forum & Expo and World of Asphalt Show & Conference will be held February 15-18, 2010, at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Attendees will find a broad array of topics that explore industry innovations and best practices, with the focus on delivering practical, real-world information and strategies to operate more efficiently and competitively.
Advance registration saves time and money, and volume discounts are available to help companies choose the most cost-effective education options for their employees. Many of the sessions are offered in basic and intermediate tracks to provide the most targeted information possible. Many sessions also qualify for attendees to receive Continuing Education Credits or certificates of attendance that document Professional Development Hours.

The National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association (NSSGA) is owner of AGG1 and has planned its AGG1 Academy to meet the needs of aggregates producers and related firms' employees, from operators to foremen to managers, and from large to small companies. The NSSGA Annual Convention will be held in conjunction with AGG1 so industry leaders will be assured to attend AGG1.
The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) is co-owner of World of Asphalt and has designed the show's People, Plants and Paving Training Program for paving contractors of all sizes as well as allied companies. The Asphalt Pavement Alliance's (APA) Asphalt Pavement Conference at World of Asphalt is themed "Saving Pavements, Dollars and the Environment" and is of particular value to paving professionals in the public and private sector involved in the design, construction and maintenance process.
Attendees have access to all education programs at both World of Asphalt and AGG1. Additional education open to all is the co-located National Traffic Management and Work Zone Safety Power Workshop, sponsored by the American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA); a NIOSH Seminar sponsored by NSSGA; and an OSHA 10-hour course for construction workers certification program.

AGG 1 Academy - February 16-18, 2010
Aggregates industry professionals active in NSSGA's operational committees and AGG1 Education Committee developed the AGG1 Academy program to meet a wide variety of interests. The AGG1 Academy encompasses all of NSSGA's various education opportunities in one place, making it convenient for companies to provide a one-stop education destination for their employees, which is a real value in the current economy.
Nearly 50 unique sessions will be offered in the AGG1 Academy, grouped in basic and advanced tracks. Topic areas include automation, community/government affairs, dredging, drilling and blasting, environment, equipment management, leadership/management/human resources, mine planning, processing, safety and health, transportation and underground mining.
People, Plants and Paving Program February 16-18, 2010
The People, Plants and Paving Training Program will cover nearly 40 sessions and examines the latest innovations in asphalt paving and production efficiencies, including safety, recycling and maintenance. The sessions are grouped into tracks and select sessions are available in Spanish.
The tracks for the People, Plants and Paving Program cover management and leadership, trends in plant operation and performance, paving techniques that combine efficiency and profitability, safety strategies to keep crews and plant operators safe, pavement preservation techniques (including seal coats, in-place recycling, overlays and crack sealing), and sustainability issues as they relate to the asphalt industry.
APA Conference - February 15-16, 2010
The APA Asphalt Pavement Conference covers 18 sessions in a day and a half to help contractors, suppliers and agencies maximize their effectiveness in today's environment. They will learn how to effectively use resources to produce asphalt pavements that are long lasting and environmentally friendly, and will explore asphalt industry economic issues and methods to optimize highway dollars.
National Traffic Management and Work Zone Safety Power Workshop - February 17, 2010
Presented by the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse, these free educational sessions will help contractors, workers and public officials maximize work zone safety. Topics include the latest in federal regulations, safety technologies, engaging law enforcement, safe entry and exit procedures, critical safety hazards (and solutions), and fall prevention.
NIOSH Seminar - February 15, 2010
In this presentation NIOSH, the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health will discuss an innovative product -- called Major Hazard Risk Assessment -- which was developed to help metal/non-metal companies improve safety performance. The seminar will include examples of risk analysis, applications, demonstrations through classroom exercises, and a discussion of the process's strengths and weaknesses.
OSHA 10-Hour Course for Construction Workers Certification Program February 15-16, 2010
This construction safety and health certification program was developed by the U.S. Department of Labor and targets construction workers, supervisors and other personnel responsible for roadway construction activities.
