The American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) has released a comprehensive publication that covers construction of quality airport pavements.

"Best Practices for Airport Concrete Pavement Construction" (EB102) is an update of a like-named and very popular report by the Innovative Pavement Research Foundation, an ACPA technology partner.

This 180-page ACPA publication is a must-have resource for contractors, consulting engineers, airport owners and their representatives, inspectors, quality assurance and quality control personnel, designers, and anyone with an interest in quality airport concrete pavement construction.

The publication details best practices from design and pre-construction (pre-con) considerations through the final steps of airport concrete pavement construction, and even early-age distress repair. The appendices include checklists for pre-con considerations, inspection and testing, and joint sawing. A decision tree for early-age cracking also is included in the appendices.

The well-organized publication is replete with high-quality, superbly detailed color photos and illustrations, as well as checklists and special paving- and quality-alerts that call special attention to conditions and other factors to consider on the grade.

The publication is available through ACPA's online bookstore at www.acpa.org/bookstore, or alternatively, by contacting Debbie Becker at 847-423-8710 (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central); by fax at 847-966-9970 (24/7); or by email to [email protected].

The publication is available in either commercially printed, perfect bound (square back) format or electronically as a PDF. (An Adobe Acrobat Reader or comparable program is required.) Additional shipping & handling charges apply and will be determined based on quantity and location of the recipients.
