The average pump price in the U.S. for Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) moved up in October 2012 to the second highest average pump price in the last 12 months.
The average Canadian pump price remained level over the reporting period.
"Reductions in raw material costs and moves by distributors to capture market share have caused Diesel Exhaust Fluid prices to decrease in tote refill, and FTL and LTL bulk delivery modes during October," said Christopher Goodfellow, North American Emissions Analyst at Integer Research, publisher of DEF Tracker.
Roll out of new bulk DEF dispensing facilities at truck stops reached its highest level since DEF Tracker was launched in October 2011, with 77 new locations coming over the last 30 days.
DEF Tracker added price references for Portland, Ore., in the October issue, bringing the total number of metropolitan areas covered by the publication to ten. Integer is adding additional references on a month-by-month basis.
DEF Tracker include 64 price references for bulk and packaged DEF across eight North American cities, and the average and low pump price in every state and province offering the facility in North America.
The Service was launched in October 2011 to help fleets and DEF distributors track and better plan for DEF purchasing costs.
