KHL's Access International reports there was marginal growth in the Access50 2013 list of the world’s biggest powered access equipment rental companies, by fleet size, along with some notable indications for the industry.

This year the Access50 shows an overall growth of 4.4% across the top 50 companies, compared to the 2012 list; slightly down on the growth between the 2011 and 2012 lists, which stood at 5.5%.

Despite this continued rise, the 2013 Access50 highlights a worldwide uncertainty, caused by the unpredictable economy in Europe and in some emerging markets. The US bucks this trend somewhat with a renewed confidence in its rental sector. As if to demonstrate this, United Rentals leads the way in first place, above six other US-based companies in the top 10.
