The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) is now offering three courses designed to help commercial builders, contractors and facility managers learn more about the benefits of propane systems. These free courses are available at PERC’s online Propane Training Academy.
“Thanks to advances in commercial tank manufacturing and distribution networks, propane is quickly expanding into commercial construction markets,” said Bridget Kidd, PERC’s director of residential and commercial programs. “By taking any or all of these courses, commercial builders and architects, remodelers, HVAC professionals and facility managers can gain a better understanding of propane systems and their unique benefits.”
Propane Gas Systems: Considerations for Commercial Construction explains how propane can be used for any gas commercial building application that does not have easy access to natural gas, including new construction, interior construction for new tenants, major renovations, and building efficiency upgrades. Available as an on-demand webinar or video, this introductory course explores how propane is effectively used for six major interior commercial applications: space heating, water heating, clothes drying, cooking, fireplaces, and dehumidification.
Commercial building professionals interested in learning more about the energy implications of different hot water systems should explore Propane Gas Water Heating Systems: Considerations for Commercial Construction. Available as an on-demand webinar, this course discusses how a broad range of propane-powered water heating systems can efficiently meet the demands of large commercial buildings. Professionals who take this course will learn how propane is effectively used for water heating in a variety of commercial applications, including multifamily and lodging, commercial kitchens, pool heating, car washes, and laundry facilities.
Combined heat and power (CHP) systems can provide commercial building owners with reliable, cost-effective, and efficient power. These secure, sustainable systems also serve as an additional source of thermal energy for water heating and space heating. Propane CHP Systems in Buildings: Technologies, Performance, and Applications will describe CHP technologies, explain their energy and economic benefits, compare fuel options and identify the types of buildings best suited for these systems.
