Ram Commercial’s new 2015 ProMaster City front-wheel-drive compact van is based on Fiat’s Doblò, a two-time International Van of the Year winner with more than 1.3 million units sold. The Ram version of the steel unibody van is powered by a 2.4-liter Chrysler Tigershark I4 engine through what Ram says is the world’s first commercial-van application of nine-speed automatic transmission. Ram claims the ProMaster City (Class 1 van segment) has these best-in-class specifications:

  • Engine: 178 hp and 174 lb.-ft. of torque
  • Payload: 1,883 lb.
  • Cargo volume: 131.7 cu. ft.
  • Cargo width and length: 60.4 in. and 87.2 in.
  • Distance between wheel wells: 48.4 in.
  • Wheelbase: 122.4 in.

In a departure from standard rear leaf springs used in Class 1 vans, the Ram ProMaster City upgrades to an independent, coil-sprung bi-link rear suspension that Ram credits with increased driving comfort and enhanced stability.

Standard electronic stability control (ESC) on the new Ram ProMaster City is a four-channel (independent control to all four corners of the vehicle), active handling system that links the vehicle’s dynamic control systems to assist the driver in maintaining control under demanding or adverse driving conditions.

Powertrain warranty extends five years or 100,000 miles.

Available in two-seat Tradesman cargo van and five-seat passenger Wagon configurations.
