On the Road: Selective Demolition Helps Reconstruct a 65,000-Seat Stadium in 11 Months

Just 28 days after 56,629 fans at the Capitol One Bowl New Years Day witnessed South Carolina defeat Wisconsin, 80 percent of the stadium - the entire lower deck - was demolished. The $200 million dollar joint reconstruction project by the city of Orlando and Orange County, Fla., now rests in the hands of senior project director Brent Daubach.

Demolition is still taking place

Home to the Capitol One Bowl, Russell Athletic Bowl, Florida Classic and the MEAC/SWAC Challenge, the redo faces a strict deadline.

Looking forward, Florida Citrus Sports hopes to entice other marque events to the downtown site.
