Video: Truckers Expect Diesel Work from Peterbilt’s Natural Gas 579

Peterbilt invited customers, dealers and ForConstructionPros.com to the Texas Motor Speedway near their Denton factory to get behind the wheel of the new 579 with a Cummins Westport ISX12 G natural-gas engine.

Drivers offered their perspective on the natural-gas engine’s performance, along with Eaton 10-speed transmission, and expectations for return on investment in the alternate-fuel technology.

The Quantum back-of-cab natural-gas storage system on this truck holds 123 diesel-gallon equivalents.
