Silverado Contractors crushed the majority of materials onsite or shipped them out for additional processing before reuse on other projects.

Silverado attached spray nozzles to the excavators, which automatically released water to control dust at the tip of the breaker. This ensured excavator operators had a clear view of the work and eliminated the need for manual dust control, which meant crews could remain a safe distance away from any falling debris. Silverado also had operators controlling nozzles on aerial lifts that were set farther back than the excavator, spraying the point where debris hit the ground.

FERMA Demolishes CA Hotel with Zero Safety Incidents, 99% Recycling of Materials

FERMA team planned the project in sections to efficiently and safely remove the 15-story, 165-ft.-tall hotel; 5-story, 450-car parking garage; and 12-story adjacent office building

At the end of December, FERMA began the hard demolition of the office and hotel buildings, starting with the 12-story structure. The team carefully removed the top four floors of the structure with the CAT 385CL high reach. For the demolition of the remaining eight floors, the team used the Volvo EC460CL HR. On the street level, FERMA used a CAT 336EL with a Labounty MDP 50 second member processing to demolish the columns and concrete.
