DEWALT celebrated its 100-year anniversary today by ringing the bell at the New York Stock Exchange. Perhaps of more interest to the construction industry is the $30 million grants program and $100,000 in free tools the company gave away to apprentices in the field.

Stanley Black & Decker, which owns DEWALT, announced that CEO and President Donald Allan Jr. would ring the opening bell on May 14 in honor of DEWALT's anniversary. The company's anniversary celebration included honoring people who work in the trades in New York City.
"Since 1924, DEWALT has embodied Raymond DeWalt's legacy of delivering jobsite solutions to industry professionals while supporting the next generation of skilled workers," Allan said in a press release. "It is an honor to celebrate DEWALT's 100th anniversary at the New York Stock Exchange, not only to recognize the brand's rich heritage but to also recognize the outstanding contributions of tradespeople across the United States. Today, we are proud to share this milestone with the tradespeople of New York City and express our unwavering appreciation for the work they do to build, maintain, improve, and advance the city."

Free Tools to NYC Contractors
A custom-built DEWALT truck made several stops in New York City on Tuesday to thank contractors and other trades professionals. At one of the city's largest jobsites, more than 1,000 tradespeople received breakfast, DEWALT gear and met New York Giants Quarterback Tommy DeVito.
Former NFL Quarterback Boomer Esiason helped deliver $100,000 in free tools to apprentices throughout the city. Esiason helped unload DEWALT equipment at the New York City District Council of Carpenters Training Center (CTC) school to "outfit the school with the latest tools and tech."
DEWALT also delivered tools for use by the UA Local Union No. 1 Plumbers & Gas-Fitters Training Center.
Grant Applications Open
DEWALT also opened applications to its latest grant program, where $30 million will be awarded over five years to organizations that are training contractors and other tradespeople.
DEWALT also began accepting applicants in September for its annual DEWALT Trades Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to students pursuing a career in the trades.
