The Insulating Concrete Form Association (ICFA) has announced the winners of its second annual ICFA Excellence Awards. The awards recognize the best commercial buildings and home ICF projects completed in 2006. Grand Commercial Winner:

The Megaplex 20 Theater at The District in South Jordan, Utah

It took 13 months to complete this 210,000 square-foot structure. The Megaplex was designed by FFKR Architects and built by Sahara Construction and IMS Masonry. Reward Wall Systems forms were used to complete the 350,000 square feet of walls, which were 50 feet tall in some places. The Megaplex also won the Large Commercial award.

Grand Residential Winner: Bob and Kaye Eberhard Residence, Redmond, Ore.

Architect/designer Peter B. Coughlin, engineer Glacier Inc. and general contractor PeterBuilt Homes combined to create this award winning home. The home was built with Logix ICFs and is Energy Star rated. A stucco finish with Rouge River stone accent was placed over the ICFs while a solar assisted/radiant floor heating system demonstrates what can be accomplished when building with ICFs. The Eberhard Residence also won the Large Residential award.
