With more than 200 contractors in attendance, a record for the 3-year-old event, it’s being called a success by ASCC, and rightly so. The conference continues to grow and any contractor that walked away without learning something new has only himself to blame.
Take a look at any list of the top companies in this industry and you’ll start to notice a trend: A huge percentage of them belong to one or more trade associations. Talk to them about their success and they’ll tell you that the key to growing was turning their practice into a business — getting out of the field and into the office. And that’s what the associations are about, learning how to build a successful business. Whether it’s through training courses, peer groups or certification, the associations offer a huge opportunity to learn of which far too few contractors take advantage.
An ASCC officer told me at the conference, “If we can just get them here, we know they’ll keep coming back.” He was absolutely right. I met a lot of new and potential members at the conference and without fail, every one of them told me it was well worth the time away from their company to attend and that they would be back in the future.
