St. Louis Hopes New Construction Projects Will Reshape City

City hopes securing two major construction projects will anchor long-term plan to leverage future development, combat crime and wipe out concentrated poverty

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The city of St. Louis is hoping to secure a federal spy agency headquarters and a new NFL stadium, totaling nearly $2.6 billion in construction costs. St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay's administration is hoping the projects can anchor a long-term plan to reshape the city, leverage future development, combat crime and wipe out concentrated poverty.

Dubbed Project Connect, city leaders want to use the two construction projects to connect struggling neighborhoods to the city's central corridor, spur a north-south MetroLink route and tie the stadium to the $380 million restoration of the Gateway Arch grounds and the new $695 million Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge.
