The $1.4 billion Washington State Convention Center expansion project will soon be looking for a new construction contractor after the expansion team announced it was severing the relationship with Skanska-Hunt, the joint venture team hired in 2015 to build the Seattle project.

According to Pine Street Group, the company managing the development, the contractor selection process will restart soon.

Originally, Skanska-Hunt beat out two other joint venture finalist: Mortenson and PCL and Lease Crutcher Lewis and Clark Construction Group.

The change in construction contractors is not expected to delay the overall project schedule.
