Spec Formliners has been issued a patent for a method to support plastic form-liner patterns that the company says is more cost effective than labor-intensive backing prior to concrete placement. Contractors must back many plastic form liner patterns with wood strips to avoid form deflection. Spec’s backer panels conform to the pattern, providing necessary support for best practices concrete placement. Spec says its plastic form liner and backer-panel system are often less expensive than plastic form liners made from thicker materials that may require backing anyway.
