During the AEMP EquipmentSHIFT Conference in Savannah, Georgia, Chase Snyder of Manatee County, Florida, was named the 2021 Technician of the Year by the Association of Equipment Management Professionals Education Foundation.

The AEMP Education Foundation Technician of the Year Award is presented annually to the individual who exemplifies the heavy equipment profession’s best technician. In recognizing technicians who are models of excellence within the profession, we have two goals:

  • Elevate the stature of the career.

  • Bring awareness to the critical issue of the crippling technician shortage found across the entire industry.

During the awards ceremony, Tracy Brooks, maintenance operations chief for the Manatee County Fleet Department described Chase’s work ethic and dedication to take on challenges.

“The bigger the job, the better. The bigger the equipment, the better,” says Brooks. Given the choice of a light-duty repair or going to a call-out on a hill for a broken down compactor, he will choose standing ankle-deep in trash sludge every single time.”

The Technician of the Year Award by the AEMP Education Foundation has been presented each year since 1989 to “the individual who exemplifies the heavy equipment profession’s best technician.” The award seeks candidates who constantly update their education, demonstrate a strong safety record, improve fleet operations and are always professional. A special thank you to our award sponsors, John Deere and EquipmentWorld, for partnering with AEMP to help us elevate the status of the technicians in our industry.
