Makita has announced the release of five corded angle grinders featuring 15-amp motors, tool-less guard adjustments and spiral gears. All grinders released feature rear handle power switches that require two actions to start the grinder.
“Makita offers over 60 different grinders that are either cordless or corded that are all engineered for performance and long life,” said Rufus Richardson, senior product manager, commercial power tools, Makita U.S.A. Inc.
“This deep system gives users unmatched choices for almost any applications.”
These angle grinders include power switches that require the user to engage a lock before start up. This feature prevents the tool from continuous operation once the switch is disengaged.
7-in. Angle Grinders
Makita 7-in. Angle Grinders all feature a 15-amp motor that delivers 8,500 rpm for material removal. The Angle Grinder with Rotatable Handle and Lock-On Switch (GA7080) and Angle Grinder with Lock-On Switch and Soft Start (GA7081) both feature soft start, which suppresses start-up reaction. The GA7080 has a rotatable back handle and a “tool-less" wheel guard for adjustments with spiral bevel gears for rotations.
The GA7081, as well as the 7-in. Angle Grinder with Lock-On Switch (GA7082), are equipped with a redesigned motor with armature stability and large commutator bars for three times longer life compared to the previous model. The tools also feature a power switch with both lock-off and lock-on capabilities.
9-in. Angle Grinders
The Makita 9-in. Angle Grinders are powered by a 15-amp motor that delivers 6,600 rpm during use. The Angle Grinder with Rotatable Handle and Lock-On Switch (GA9080) features soft start, which suppresses start-up reaction. It also features a vibration-absorbing rotatable back handle and a “tool-less" wheel guard for adjustments with spiral bevel gears for rotations.
The Makita 9-in. Angle Grinder with Lock-On Switch (GA9081) is equipped with a redesigned motor with greater armature stability and larger commutator bars for three times longer life compared to the previous model. The Angle Grinder features a power switch with both lock-off and lock-on capabilities. The trigger switch requires two actions to start the grinder.
