5- and 8-liter Tier 4 Final Engines

The 5-liter, inline four-cylinder D5 and 8-liter, inline six-cylinder D8 benefit from a redesigned platform and advanced fuel injection and aftertreatment systems.

  • Use only selective catalytic reduction (SCR) to meet Tier 4 Final, with no diesel particulate filter or diesel oxidation catalyst required
  • Share the same base engine design as the D11, D13 and D16, as well as a common electronics platform and design footprint
  • Increased displacement offers improved engine block stiffness and higher torque at low speed, yet fuel consumption isĀ  reduced by as much as 2.5%
