Vermeer increased thrust/pullback power of its small-footprint D20x22 S3 Navigator horizontal directional drill 22% to 19,550 lb. and boosted drill torque 10% to 2,200 lb. The 74-hp Deutz diesel generates 14% greater power compared to Kubota engine that powers the D16x20 Series II. The D20x22 S3’s new hydraulic system delivers 40% faster carriage time (167 ft./min.) and 4% faster spindle speed (257 rpm).

New Vermeer models featuring the S3 label are Tier 4 Final and Stage IV emission compliant in North America and Europe. Units sold in lesser regulated countries will have Tier 4 Interim engines.
