From alternative power sources to new lighting technology, there’s a model to perfectly suit your customers’ demands. Read on for a rundown of what leading suppliers currently have to offer.
Allmand Unveils New Maxi-Lite II
Allmand Bros. announces the latest generation Maxi-Lite light tower, the Allmand Maxi-Lite II, available in either a traditional lay-down style or a V-series hydraulically actuated vertical tower.
Now standard with 100 US gallons of fuel capacity, the Maxi-Lite II can operate up to 175 hours with all four lights operating to provide extended operation with less service expense. The dual rotationally molded fuel tanks are longitudinally mounted on either side of the enclosure directly over the axle to ensure that the trailer is evenly balanced regardless of the fuel level.
The light tower’s completely redesigned trailer features heavy-gauge formed-steel gull-wing style doors that allow complete accessibility to all major engine and generator components. Its remote oil drain enables easy engine servicing. The larger enclosure allows easier service access and accommodates Tier IV Final engines as well as any peripheral attachments they may require.
The trailer-integrated fluid containment system provides additional peace of mind when operating in environmentally sensitive areas. The containment tray holds up to 110 percent of the fuel and oil capacity and incorporates a large drain for easy cleaning.
Incorporating Allmand’s exclusive SHO-HD 1,250-watt engineered lighting system, the new Maxi-Lite II provides 150,000 lumens per lamp. Additionally, Allmand’s optional Saf-T-Visor attachment can also be installed on the fixtures to direct otherwise wasted light back onto the worksite.
- 100 US gallons of fuel capacity for 175 hours of continuous operation
- Heavy-gauge formed-steel gull-wing style doors
- 150,000 lumens per lamp
Atlas Copco QLTS Light Towers Run Solely on Solar Power
The Atlas Copco QLTS light towers run on solar-powered batteries that are charged during the day and last through the night. They significantly reduce environmental impact, operate silently and have a very low life cycle cost because they don’t require fuel and have no engine or alternator to maintain.
Highly efficient AGM batteries provide clean, reliable power to the LED lights. With sufficient sunlight during the day, these towers can provide light for many night shifts without requiring a charge.
The QLTS solar light towers are 100-percent noise free, which is especially practical for special events, security and operation in residential neighborhoods.
The QLTS models come standard with both manual and automatic photocell-controlled on/off requiring no user input. LED lights turn on immediately.

Doosan LSC Light Towers Feature Upgraded Powertrain
The redesigned LSC portable light tower features a new powertrain, equipped with a Kubota D1005 engine. This 1,800-rpm water-cooled diesel engine meets EPA Tier 4 final emission regulations. The power rating of the LSC has been increased to 6 kW with the utilization of a new high-output alternator. This additional voltage allows operators to illuminate the unit’s four 1,000-watt metal halide floodlights and utilize the receptacle power function simultaneously.
Fuel tank capacity has also been increased, extending the LSC’s runtime to 55 hours. The compact frame design maximizes truckload shipping, with the ability to accommodate 12 fully assembled units on a standard flatbed trailer.
Improvements to the enclosure make it even more convenient to access the operator control panel. A small curbside door allows operators to safely access the controls without having to open the entire side panel. Integrated hinges have also been added to the street-side to provide easy access to all interior general maintenance components.
Common with all of Doosan’s light towers, the heavy-duty galvanized steel mast of the LSC extends from 12 to 30 feet. When fully extended and with all four outriggers/jacks secured, the unit will withstand winds up to 65 mph. The telescoping, rotating tower locks into position for precise aiming of floodlights. For traveling and storage, a patented automatic locking system holds the tower into place when in the stowed travel position.

Progress Solar Solutions Models USe Solar and Wind Power
Progress Solar Solutions offers two new series of products, the Progress Solar/Hybrid-Ready and Progress Solar/Hybrid Light Towers. The company claims its product range is the largest selection of towable outdoor lighting systems (light plants) powered by renewable energy (sun and wind power) and the only range that enables use anywhere including the extremes from dessert heat to arctic cold, depending on the model selected.
The light plants are powered primarily by two on-board solar-powered generators and an optional wind generator housed above the LED flood lights. For redundancy and as a backup, the large battery bank stores numerous days of lighting (now up to 60 hours of run time without solar) and can always be charged via an onboard dual-bank AC power charger if ever needed.
To power the AC rapid charger in remote areas during solar-challenged areas or times, Progress Solar has added two options. The new Solar/Hybrid-Ready enables quick mount of a 3-4kW generator from a rental company’s existing fleet while the new Solar/Hybrid Series has an integrated generator built into the system. These options can be added to any Progress Solar or Solar/Wind unit for backup.
The light tower is fully adjustable from 12 to 30 feet in height; lights can be individually tilted up/down and the mast can be rotated to direct the light exactly where it’s needed.

Terex Champions LED Technology
Terex Aerial Work Platforms offers the AL4L and AL5L LED light towers, offering the benefit of crisper lighting capabilities compared to 4,000W metal-halide models. As battery-operated units, the light towers eliminate engine noise and emissions, making them both environmentally friendly and extremely versatile.
With a 50,000-hour bulb life, the LED lights last five times longer than metal-halide lights. The LED towers provide up to 10 hours of run time and unlike metal-halide lights, have instant on/off operation. Low light pollution and sharp side cut-off reduces road glare to motorists, making the AL4L and AL5L suitable for a wide range of applications.
When operating, both units offer a 30-foot extended height. When stowed, the AL5L has a height of 69 inches and a length of 178 inches. The AL4L is even more compact with a stowed height of 67 inches and length of 178 inches.
Standard on all new Terex AL4L generator LED light towers is the ShorePlug connector which allows multiple light towers to be connected in-line and operate from a single power source.
- LED lights offer 50,000-hour bulb life
- AL5L comes standard with an 8kW generator for charging on-board batteries

Wacker Neuson Introduces Vertical Mast Light Towers
Wacker Neuson is expanding its light tower line with the addition of two models designed for faster set-up time and easier operation.
The LTN 6KV and LTN 8KV are trailer-mounted vertical mast light towers. The vertical mast is made of nine sections that can be raised and lowered in about 15 seconds by the push of a button. The hydraulically activated telescoping mast collapses while remaining in the vertical position, eliminating the tower overhang off the back of the trailer. This design decreases the total length of the unit, maximizing the number of machines that can fit on a standard shipping truck and in a rental storage space.
The new LTN 6KV and LTN 8KV are narrow-body light towers that are suited whenever nighttime needs to be converted to daylight. The mast extends 28 feet and light bar rotates 360-degrees for optimum lighting flexibility. The four elliptical light fixtures with 1000-watt metal halide lamps can be easily directed to offer excellent job site illumination. The new light bar design also gives the user additional range of motion on all four light fixtures, allowing usage in reduced glare applications such as highway construction.
Wacker Neuson light towers offer sound levels as low as 67 dB(A) at 23 feet, which provides for maximum versatility for almost any application. A large, 30-gallon fuel tank allows for continuous lighting/run time over several nights of operation without refueling. Four-point jack stands provide for easy leveling, stability on uneven terrain and superior wind stability. Lockable full length, high impact polyethylene side doors are dent and rust proof and provide maximum accessibility for easy servicing and durability for any jobsite application.
