Komatsu Intelligent Machine Control 2.0 Now Automates Mid- to Large-size Excavators

New technology integrated into the PC290LCi-11, PC360LCi-11 and PC390LCi-11 excavator models can remove the requirement to manually adjust the bucket cutting angle to match the desired grade in exavating, fine grading, trimming in and more operations.

Komatsu's intelligent Machine Control 2.0 (iMC 2.0) fully integrated from the factory gives contractors the ensure that operators dig right the first time with productivity-enhancing automation on the mid- to large-size PC290LCi-11, PC360LCi-11 and PC390LCi-11 excavators.

  •  Auto-Stop Control stops the bucket edge on the design surface during boom, arm or bucket operation, and eliminates over-digging past the desired grade. Operators can dig in their most-productive practice, and rely on the system’s intervention when required. Updated systems empower operators to dig straight to grade quickly and accurately during footing excavation, trenching, slope work and more
  • Auto Grade Assist, during a grading pass, automatically raises the boom and the bucket edge to accurately trace the design surface. The operator controls the desired grading speed with the left hand lever, simplifying a previously quite complex manual operation.
  • Minimum Distance Control allows the operator to easily calibrate each bucket they use to the excavator's grade control system, so that the iMC can always calculate the bucket’s nearest point or the “minimum distance” to the design model. Regardless of how the bucket is oriented, the system will always prevent it from damaging the surface.
  • Auto Tilt Control automates work with bucket tilt-rotators. The iMC 2.0 system intuitively adjusts the bucket cutting edge to reach the  desired slope, and keeps the bucket edge exactly on the grade throughout the grading pass, with no need for manual adjustment of the tilt-rotator.
  • Bucket Angle Hold enables the operator to set the desired bucket grading or digging angle. The iMC 2.0 maintains a constant bucket angle regardless of stick inputs, removing the need for the operator to manually adjust the cutting angle, to simplify final grading or trimming.
