Asphalt Pavement Association of Indiana Names Technical Director

APAI Kirsten Pauley PE 584f04644da8b

The Asphalt Pavement Association of Indiana (APAI) has named Kirsten Pauley, PE technical director for the member-driven, not for profit association.

Pauley’s certification as a professional engineer, experience in civil/site design, aviation design, utility design and pavement design, coupled with her construction experience, made her an ideal candidate for the position.
Over the course of her career, Pauley has exhibited successful collaboration and communication with clients, contractors and government agencies. Her past employers include The Schneider Corporation, Shrewsberry & Associates, and Rieth-Riley Construction.

Past project work includes the Honda parking lot expansion in Greensburg, IN, and the Indiana University Assembly Hall renovation in Bloomington, IN. She was a recipient of several APAI-NAPA civil engineering scholarships and attended the association’s Winter Conference as an award recipient in both 2010 and 2011.

“Having served as Kirsten’s immediate supervisor in a past position, I can say with full confidence that she’s a professional focused on service and developing effective working relationships,” says outgoing Technical Director Dudley Bonte, PE. “I’ve witnessed her display excellent communication skills and follow-through on tasks.”

Pauley is a 2001 graduate of Purdue University. She’s a member of IndyCREW, Society of Women Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, and serves as a Starfish Initiative mentor. She resides in Fishers, IN.

“I am excited to work within our asphalt paving industry,” Pauley says. “There are plenty of opportunities and challenges facing our industry. I look forward to working with our dynamic members to continue to move our industry forward.”

According to APAI Executive Director William Knopf, Pauley has some big shoes to fill as the association’s Technical Director when Dudley Bonte retires from the staff at the end of January 2017.

“I've known Kirsten since she interviewed for our scholarship as a Purdue civil engineering student in 2010, and I know that she is up to the challenge,” he says. “Between her strong academic foundation and relevant career experience, I'm confident Kirsten will be a great technical resource for both our member company personnel and our customers at INDOT and local public agencies in Indiana.” He describes her as personable, creative, and eager to learn more from the technical experts in our membership.

“I'm pleased that our Board of Directors has committed the necessary funding to make this a full-time position for APAI, and I'm looking forward to working with Kirsten to address the critical issues that face our industry,” he adds.

Pauley can be reached at [email protected].
