Tracing its roots to the late 1800s, today's Terex Roadbuilding HMA plant product line represents the consolidation of technology developed by several manufacturers and refined by years of on-the-job experience.

With the integration of the Cedarapids/Standard Havens and CMI brands, Terex Roadbuilding now offers the widest plant selection available from any single manufacturer. The choice between a complete Cedarapids/Standard Havens plant, CMI plant or a combination of both plant and controls packages gives producers unprecedented flexibility for selecting the right plant configuration to meet their specific needs.

The Terex Roadbuilding HMA plant line includes portable, relocatable and stationary drum mix designs. Anchored by the Magnum CF counter-flow drum mixer, the Cedarapids/Standard Havens brand offers production capacities ranging from 350 to 550 tph and includes a wide assortment of storage silos, baghouses, mineral filler silos, cold feed bins and controls houses.

The CMI brand features the industry-exclusive 250- to 700-tph Triple-Drum counter-flow mixer and efficient Roto-Aire baghouse, storage silos, cold feed bins, control rooms, mineral filler silos and liquid asphalt tanks.

"By combining the two product lines, Terex Roadbuilding has effectively doubled the number of options available to our asphalt producing customers," says Mark Spicer, vice president of plant sales.

The Cedarapids QMA (Quality Mix Asphalt) and CMI Impulse plant controls packages have been reconfigured to operate either brand or a mixture of brand plant components. Both systems operate on a PLC platform and offer producers remote access, via the Internet or company Intranets, to important plant information including the drum mixer, storage silos, baghouses, cold feed bins, mineral filler silos, liquid AC tanks and electrical input/output.

In 1999, the Terex Corporation entered the hot mix asphalt plant manufacturing business through its acquisition of the Cedarapids/Standard Havens plant line. Terex further penetrated the asphalt production market though the 2001 acquisition of CMI Corp. The company now has consolidated all asphalt plant manufacturing functions at its Roadbuilding Division in Oklahoma City, OK. Additionally, sales and equipment service and support functions were also combined to maintain a strong customer focus, while allowing for a renewed concentration on new product development.
