The SX-8e/ex is the largest in the Roadtec line of soil stabillizer-reclaimer machines, the SX-8 is capable of cutting up to 20-in. deep and 100-in. wide and is designed for road rehabilitation, cold recycling, or soil stabilization.
- Operating weight of 82,000-lbs, evenly distributed between the two axles, which results in power being applied more efficiently, making the machine capable of handling handle the most challenging surface and ground conditions
- The SX-8e features a Tier 4i Caterpillar C18 755 hp @ 1,900 rpm engine, while the SX-8ex is equipped with a Tier 3 Caterpillar C18 700 hp @ 1,900 rpm
- The SX-8 rotor is designed for milling and mixing the most resistant soils completely and homogeneously
- Variable geometry cutter housing enables the SX-8 to achieve material gradation with each pass
- Air-shift 4-speed transmission is designed to allow the change of cutter speeds without a loss in production, the operator can select the appropriate cutter speed for the current conditions without making modifications to the cutter drive, saving time and effort
- Cooling system pulls air from the top of the machine before it is exhausted through the radiator package to reduce the amount of dust traveling though the cooling system
- Ergonomic design of the sealed cabin situates the operator in position to reach all controls and systems
- Joystick controls and four different steering modes supports the machine’s maneuverability and operation
- The operator seat slides laterally and swings 90° to help provide the operator’s preferred vantage point from which to work
