In this Caltrans News Flash, Public Information Officer Sam Yniguez highlights an innovative device Caltrans will be using on a project on State Route 180 in Eastern Fresno County that will substantially improve safety, reduce vehicle emissions and relieve traffic congestion. A conveyor system has been installed that will transport material from the yard, over the highway, to the jobsite located on the other side. Over the course of the project, the device will transport 800,000 tons of dirt which will remove 35,000 truckloads and eliminate 135,000 truck miles from the busy thoroughfare.
