3-D Effort to Improve Safety

Just as 3-D is the new "big thing" in movies, officials in West Vancouver, Canada have decided adding three dimensional artwork to its pavements can help slow drivers and improve pedestrian safety. The officials apparently aren't happy with the impact speed bumps have, so they have turned to two-dimensional artwork depicting "Pavement Patty" running after a ball. The two-dimensional artwork kind of "pops up" as a driver approaches and becomes a full three-dimensional image at about 100 feet. There is some concern, however, that drivers will become "immune" to the image, eventually ignoring it and accidentally injuring a real person.
