Barbara Brennan is the Director of Risk & Safety for Traffic Plan and has more than 17 years of experience in occupational safety and risk management. A Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT), OSHA-authorized trainer, Mental Health First Aid Instructor, Grief Coach, and AFSP volunteer educator, she is passionate about creating workplaces where psychological safety is valued alongside physical safety. After losing her brother, Kevin, to suicide in 2009, Barbara found the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) in 2023 and discovered a meaningful way to combine her professional expertise with her personal mission. Today, she serves as AFSP New Jersey's Education Chair, Construction Champion for the Hard Hat Courage initiative, and co-chair of the annual New Jersey Construction Hike for Hope, working with labor organizations, contractors, safety professionals, and industry leaders to bring suicide prevention directly into the construction industry through education, awareness, and compassionate action.
