City council to issue request for proposals for construction management services and complete interviews before October

The Minneapolis City Council voted Friday to issue a request for proposals for construction management services for the $50 million makeover of the downtown Nicollet Mall. The project aims to rebuild and beautify the aging mall on a 12-block stretch from Grant Street to Washington Avenue.

Steve Cramer, president and CEO of the Minneapolis Downtown Council and Downtown Improvement District, said the construction manager interviews should wrap up by the end of September. A recommendation will go to the City Council in October or November and a construction manager will be brought on by the end of the year.
