The New York State Thruway Authority is providing $750 million to keep construction of the Tappan Zee Bridge replacement going for another year. The one-time cash windfall will help avoid the need to issue bonds in 2015 for the $3.9 billion project.
The authority's unanimously adopted new budget trims spending for the bridge project from $967 million to $910 million by pushing several scheduled payments into 2016. However, this should not affect construction.
