Sponsored by Colorado Senators Michael Bennet (D) and Cory Gardner (R) a provision to the Senate's $612 billion defense policy bill would strip the Veterans Affairs Department of its authority to run large construction projects costing more than $100 million. Instead, management over those projects would be transferred to the Army Corps of Engineers.
The Senate approved the defense policy bill which must now be merged with the House's defense policy bill and then voted on.
