PA Construction Company Facing Federal Fraud Charges

Carl M. Weber Steel Service, Inc. and its top management are accused of creating a shell company to secure highway construction contracts through the disadvantaged business enterprise program

Carl M. Weber Steel Service, Inc.'s president Dennis Weber and vice president Dale Weber are facing one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Prosecutors allege the company and its top management created Karen Construction as a shell company to secure contracts through he Department of Transportation's disadvantaged business enterprise program

Weber Steel allegedly received $18.7 million from 224 federally funded projects between April 1995 and November 2011 through Karen Construction. Both Webers as well as a third party face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 if convicted.
