Construction Suspended on NY Private Casino Project

Appellate court rules written explanation for why casino would have no environmental impact was insufficient under strict law requirements

The fight between a private developer and groups opposing a new casino in upstate New York has escalated with construction being suspended after an appellate court ruled the town board in Tyre, N.Y. violated the procedures of a state environmental law. 

NY Casino Project Could Create 1,200 Construction Jobs

The Fourth Judicial Department of the Appellate Division of New York State Supreme Court in Rochester found the state board, which found private developer Wilmorite's planned Lago casino would have no environmental impact, violated procedures of the State Environmental Quality Review Act when it did not provide a written explanation for the June 2014 environmental impact finding.
