Alexis Brumm joined Rental in May 2020. After graduating from Albion College in 2011 with a degree in Communications and a concentration in Mass Media, she applied for an internship at a Michigan-based publishing company where she became the associate editor for three B2B construction-related publications.
Now, she has almost 10 years of experience writing for various construction industry sectors, including heavy equipment, groundwater drilling, surveying, geospatial, asphalt, cranes, and lifting and access equipment.
As Rental’s editor, Brumm hopes to give equipment rental owners and managers new, innovative insight into how best to manage their assets, while achieving profitability and success. This includes information on the latest products, business-related issues such as hiring and finances, and even new business ventures like social media, digital marketing, and software programs.
One of the things that Brumm has discovered she’s most passionate about is finding the next generation of construction employees and getting them interested in the trades from a young age. Employee recruitment, retention, and education are all important facets to a business’ success, and she hopes to help owners and managers learn and implement best practices moving forward.
In her ongoing role as editor, Brumm hopes to connect with Rental’s readers in order to learn how she can serve and inspire them. She looks to expand the magazine’s mission, delivering fresh content in both the print publication and digital platforms (newsletters, website, and social media channels). She hopes to create exciting video series’ and “best practices” articles that will help equipment rental owners and managers navigate today’s business landscape.
In her spare time, Brumm likes to spend each morning at the gym. A college volleyball player, all-around athlete, and ex-competitive bodybuilder, she loves to stay active and lifts weights six times a week. She’s also a big football fan, but even though she was born and raised in Michigan, she’s a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
She also enjoys the “nerdy” side of life, being an avid fan of Star Wars, Marvel, Wonder Woman, and video games. She loves traveling to her cottage in Northern Michigan, going for motorcycle rides with her boyfriend, traveling, and eating donuts.
