Western Global, a provider of portable tanks and dispensing equipment for the storage and handling of fuels, lubricants and other fluids, announces the formulation of a new sales division to focus on its rental and equipment customers. The new division provides a dedicated and focused approach on the equipment rental industry with a team that understands the specific demands and needs of this segment. John Cleary has been named the national sales manager of the new division.
“The equipment rental segment is a unique customer base with specific needs and challenges that often differ from our other distribution segments,” said John Cleary, Western Global national sales manager. “We know there is tremendous ROI potential for our rental customers with our products, but we realize that the ability to articulate that value proposition and gain further account penetration would require a dedicated rental sales team that is solely focused on supporting this unique market segment.”
Cleary will oversee the new division and its dedicated team, which will be comprised of one national account manager, four regional sales managers, and a dedicated inside sales support representative. All team members are tenured rental sales professionals with decades of combined experience and a deep understanding of the distinct market needs.
“John and the rental team we are building all have an extensive amount of industry knowledge and experience,” said Barry Truan, Western Global vice president – Americas. “They’re familiar with the day-to-day aspects of the equipment rental business and the needs of the contractors out on the jobsite. John himself has over 20 years of experience in the mobile equipment space — both as a technician and a sales professional — which provides exceptional value to our customers.”
Cleary’s experience includes eight years of business development and account management in the equipment rental space, serving both equipment rental companies as a business development manager for Wacker Neuson, and contractors as a territory manager for the specialty power division of United Rentals.
He also has extensive technical experience working with mobile power generation equipment. Cleary’s equipment experience extends well beyond his work in manufacturing and sales. He served in the U.S. Army as a generator technician, deploying to Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He later became a field service manager for Cummins Atlantic, after honorably ending his military service, and eventually transitioned from the service side of the industry to sales and marketing.
In his new role, Cleary will be responsible for developing the strategic plan for growth of the rental and equipment distribution channel, as well as the tactical execution of that strategy through the management of the rental sales team.
