Connecting the Dots

NAPSA works for sweeping industry

In this edition of Pavement Maintenance & Reconstruction, you may have read the article entitled “NAPSA Developing ANSI Standard.Readers learned that the power sweeping industry has been plagued with litigation that is causing insurance rates to soar through the roof. Additionally, the cost to retain an attorney to defend your organization can truly put a dent in your pocket. The North American Power Sweeping Association listened and that is why we began working on the standard.

“Do for your industry, what they cannot do for themselves” is a mantra that Scott Cerosky, member of the NAPSA Standards team continues to remind. Doing what the power sweeping community cannot do individually is exactly why NAPSA began this process. We represent those interests. NAPSA is comprised of volunteer leaders, members and a director. It is through the concept of “many hands make light work” that this organization propels the best interest of our community forward.

Once NAPSA completes the standard, the leadership will enhance the topic with education. The community will have access to management level training as well as our new Certified Sweeper Operator program. Both programs will work in concert to create the baseline of best practices. The Certified Sweeper Operator program will begin beta testing in the fourth quarter of 2017 and is anticipated to launch in conjunction with National Pavement Expo.

Be a part of the power sweeping community. Although these programs will be made available to everyone, the resources for development come from NAPSA members. If you would like to participate in the betterment of your power sweeping industry, contact the NAPSA office at (888) 757-0130 or visit www.powersweeping.org today!
