Ford expects the standard 2.5-L four-cylinder gasoline engine mated to a new six-speed transmission to power its compact Transit Connect Cargo Van beyond 30 mpg in highway fuel economy. Based on the new global C1 platform, the 2014 Transit Connect will be available in two wheelbases: 105 in. (with 105 cu. ft. of cargo space) and 121 in. (with 130 cu. ft. cargo, much like today’s 114-in.-wheelbase Transit Connect).

1.6-L EcoBoost engine option
Payload expected to be at least 1,670 lb.
2,000 lbs towing capacity (which current Transit Connect does not have)
CNG/LNG-prep capability on the base 2.5 L iVCT four cylinder engine
