Back in December the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) enacted the 2016 omnibus appropriations bill which shifted funds from old earmarks to be shared among the states for current highway and bridge projects. The FHWA has now laid out plans for redistributing nearly $2 billion to the states, and New York stands to receive the largest amount of potential repurposed funds of $215.6 million.
Georgia comes in next with a possible $166 million if repurposed funds filled by:
- California, $126.1 million
- Virginia, $122.7 million
- New Jersey, $116.9 million
On the other side of the line, North Dakota and Wyoming have no eligible orphan earmarks under the current criteria.
