EarthCam Technologies has presented a time-lapse video of construction at the Newark Liberty International Airport's Terminal A. The $2.7 billion project, which began in 2018, is complete. The terminal will reopen for flights on Jan. 12, according to the Port Authority. The completed project is 1 million square feet with 33 gates. The project is the largest design-build in New Jersey history, according to the airport.

“The Port Authority is pleased to announce that the first flights in and out of Newark Liberty’s new, world-class Terminal A will commence on January 12th. We look forward to welcoming passengers to this magnificent, state-of-the-art facility, where they will enjoy best-in-class functionality, inspiring public art, delicious local concessions, and a transformative experience from curb to gate."

The previous terminal was 50 years old and known for being largely outdated.

The new Terminal A was designed and built by Tutor Perini/Parsons, with work completed in phases to minimize customer inconvenience. Xovis sensor technology will be employed at check-in and security, smart restrooms, waypoints, and departure gate doors, to help reduce wait times, increase overall efficiency of operations and improve the customer experience.
