Jury Awards Injured Construction Worker Record $62 Million

Award was $7 million more than plaintif, who suffered traumatic brain injury after a 20-ft. fall, asked for

A construction worker who suffered a traumatic brain injury in a job-site fall was awarded $62 million — the largest lawsuit verdict for a single plaintiff in Queens.

The brain injury and other serious injuries resulted when the Chinese immigrant, 26-year-old Zeng Guang Lin, fellb20 ft. from a roof while working a 2008 job in The Bronx for Hutch Realty Partners LLC. Testimony of 20 witnesses proved the construction company did not provide Lin with proper safety devices.

The award was $7 million more than Lin’s lead attorney originally asked for.
