Safety helmet manufacturer STUDSON is expanding into the European market as the region adopts the new EN 397:2025 industrial head protection standard. The effort will be led by Fabio Berardi, the company’s new European Business Development Director, based in Rome.
The move marks STUDSON’s first major push into Europe, where the updated standard requires protection against both on-crown and off-crown impacts — an approach similar to the company’s existing ANSI Type II safety helmet engineering used in North America.
Berardi will focus on forming partnerships with distributors and safety leaders across the continent. He will report to Chief Revenue Officer Adam Bookwalter.
The EN 397:2025 standard replaces the previous 2012 version and introduces new requirements for multi-directional impact protection. STUDSON’s existing helmet design includes KOROYD impact-absorbing polymer tubes and an embedded Twiceme NFC chip, which can store emergency and safety information for first responders and occupational health teams.
Company leaders said the updated European standard reflects a broader shift toward more comprehensive industrial head protection and aligns with the type of engineering STUDSON has developed for its North American customers.
