Milwaukee Tool expanded its safety training efforts during May's Construction Safety Week to include mental health awareness and suicide prevention resources for construction workers.

The company partnered with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to bring mental health education directly to jobsites through AFSP’s Talk Saves Lives: Construction program and Hard Hat Courage initiative.

According to Milwaukee Tool, more than 200 employees participated in over 500 safety training sessions during Construction Safety Week, reaching more than 100,000 workers nationwide through demonstrations and instruction.

The initiative comes as the construction industry continues to face high rates of workplace injuries and suicide among workers. Milwaukee Tool said the partnership is intended to integrate mental health discussions into existing safety conversations already taking place on jobsites and at training centers.

The company said it invests more than $10 million annually in safety education, training and jobsite solutions as part of its broader skilled trades initiatives.

Milwaukee Tool also works with union and nonunion organizations, apprenticeship programs and training centers to support workforce development and safety training across the construction industry.
