According to Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), the highway trust fund deficit will not be as big as originally projected. Boxer said that while the government was anticipating a deficit of $18 billion a year over six years, the actual number comes out to be $13 billion a year over six years. "We have to have the courage, in the Senate and in the House, to fund a multi-year bill," she said. "We cannot leap over that idea to an extension."
