Google's expansion of its data center in Council Bluffs in Nebraska is just one of several big-dollar construction projects in the Omaha area. The Google project alone involves around 2,000 construction workers. However, construction contractors in the area are trying to find ways to deal with the labor shortage to continue construction on these projects. Local unions and contractors are recruiting union works from outside states. The unions have also recruited retired members.
