Texas Approves $3B in Bonds for Educational Building Construction

Sixty-four higher education campuses will receive money for new construction projects with schools in North Texas receiving the bulk of the funds

The Texas Senate has passed legislation authorizing more than $3 billion in bonds for construction and renovation projects at 64 higher education campuses in the state. These are the first new projects approved by lawmakers since 2006.

Under the legislation, UT-Dallas and UT-Arlington would both receive $70 million, the UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas would receive $73.8 million, the University of North Texas at Dallas would receive $57.8 million and the main UNT campus in Denton would receive $119 million.
