According to a recent report, construction workers on public projects in New York earn up to 177 percent more than their privately employed counterparts. Construction laborers are earning up to 119 percent more with those in the private sector making an average of $25.40 an hour and those on public projects making an average of $39.85 per hour. 

Insulators top the list with a nearly $33 per hour difference in hourly wages.
