Recent construction booms may be halted due to a glass shortage that is causing construction costs to skyrocket and even causing projects to stop mid-construction. Curtain-wall prices have increased more than 30% over the last 18 months.

After several glass manufacturers went out of business during the economic downturn, current manufacturers are having a difficult time keeping up with material demands. The glass shortage could last through the next year.
