Minneapolis Passes $1B for Construction Projects for Fourth Straight Year

Much of the boom in the last four years can be attributed to pent-up demand created by the recession

For the fourth consecutive year the city of Minneapolis has surpassed the 10-digit mark in construction permits. Much of the boom over the last four years can be attributed to pent-up demand created by the recession. Prior to 2012, Minneapolis hadn't surpassed $1 billion in construction since 2000.

The city hit the $1 billion mark on September 11 this year, and there are several more large construction projects working they way through approvals which could be permitted in the coming weeks.

In 2014 the city reached $2 billion in permits.
