Mediation in Minnesota Vikings Stadium to Last At Least One Month

Mediation will continue for at least another month, and if no result is reached the issue will then go to binding arbitration

Star Tribune

Three days of closed-door discussions have yielded no agreement between the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) and Mortenson Construction over a $15 million dispute over the division of costs for some of the work on U.S. Bank Stadium. Mediation will continue for at least another month, and if no result is reached the issue will then go to binding arbitration.

Contractor Mortenson is trying to protect its investment and profit on the project while MSFA is trying to protect taxpayer money.

The disagreement revolves around design changes to the project. Mortenson says it's owed money for changes that went beyond original plans while MSFA argues nothing is owed because the changes should have been anticipated in the original bid.
