After being declared in default, suspended and then sued by Santa Clara County over the Valley Medical Center construction project, contractor Turner Construction Co. has been brought back to finish the job.
A new agreement will raise Turner's contract value by $85 million and unlock $28.4 million from the existing contract. In return, Santa Clara County has agreed to drop its litigation against Turner Construction.
The new deal brings the total revised contract amount to $466.5 million — $176.5 million more than the original $290 contract.
The agreement also requires Turner's CEO to personally check in with the county CEO every six weeks.
