School Construction May Kickstart Chicago Building Boom

The Chicago Board of Education is looking to borrow up to $840 million for school renovation, construction projects and equipment purchases

The Chicago Board of Education is expected to approve borrowing up to $840 million, but exactly what it will be spent on is still a secret. The Board would reveal spending plans to the public until after the district goes to market for the new bonds.

Chicago Public Schools has said the bonds would pay for renovation and construction projects as well as equipment purchases.
